What are the requirements?

Before committing to becoming a teacher at NC Tutoring, please reflect upon yourself carefully as we have high expectations for those who are interested in educating students

As everyone has their “firsts” for everything, and makes mistakes, we highly recommend that if you are interested in becoming a tutor, you can fulfill the requirements below:

  • Demonstrates commitment by consistently attending tutoring sessions every week during the times of availability that they’ve listed

  • Exhibits punctuality and arrives on time for each tutoring session.

  • Displays patience and understanding, adapting teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.

  • Possesses strong communication skills to convey concepts clearly and effectively.

  • Creates a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement.

  • Being mindful around students, not accidentally or purposefully saying swear words or making irrelevant jokes during classes

  • Responsible for checking student’s homework

Average time commitment requirement as a tutor:

2 Hours per week; 1 hour of lesson prepping, 1 hour of class time

  1. What does the time commitment for this program look like?

    As a tutor, you should be prepared to dedicate at least 2 hours a week to the program. 30 minutes - 1 hour of lesson prepping and 1 hour of class with the student

  2. What do the tutors teach off of?

    NC tutoring provides a premade curriculum for teachers to use during their lessons. Students follow a set course

  3. Other than teaching and lesson prepping, what else is the teacher responsible for?

    Part of the lesson prepping the class time, teachers are also responsible for checking the student’s homework and going over their mistakes during the class after the week it was assigned

  4. What happens if I can’t attend classes consistently due to an uncertain schedule?

    If frequent rescheduling occurs, we can help you adjust your schedule or ask that you reconsider becoming a tutor, as this role requires commitment. Whatever availability you provide, you must be ready to teach during that time, except in the case of special circumstances or emergencies.

  5. What happens if I or the student can’t attend class?
    Students or teachers should let the other party know 24 hours ahead to make them aware that they can’t make it to the lesson unless there is an emergency.
