Penpal Project

Penpaling with AUHSD ELD Students

Thank you for your interest in joining our Pen Pal Program! Our goal is to support ESL (English as a Second Language) students in improving their communication and literacy skills through regular writing exchanges with peers.

What to expect

  • Letters will be written and exchanged every 2–4 weeks, ideally.
  • Pen pal letters are written on paper, during our club meetings or in your own time.
  • You will be paired with a pen pal from either Miramonte or another school within AUHSD.
  • This initiative aligns with NC Tutoring’s mission to help ESL students enhance their English through consistent, meaningful practice.

Volunteer hours

In addition to supporting ESL students, NC Tutoring is dedicated to creating opportunities for U.S. high school students across the nation. You will earn volunteer hours based on the time you spend writing letters.
